SUBJECT:
STAFF REQUIREMENTS - DISCUSSION OF SEQUOYAH FULL POWER LICENSE, AUGUST 20, 1980 Following the Comission meeting on August 20,1980, we asked the Office of International Programs to obtain any experience the French reactors might have with the installations of reactor vessel vents.
As indicated in the enclosed September 2,1980 memorandum (Lafleur to Denton), the French have not taken any action in regard to the installation of reactor vessel vents on either operating plants or plants under construction. Further, sane French studies appear to conclude that such vents are not necessary for safety.
These studies, however, are under review by French licensing authorities. Any additional information obtained from the French on this subject will be provided to you.
