Mr. Richard A. Cordin Executive Assistant Gentlemen:
1 During the week of June 24, 1968, our District II Safeguards Office com-ducted a safeguards inspection at your Tankee Atomic Electric reactor in Rowe, Massachusetts, with respect to the special nuclear material possessed pursuant to your License Nos. SNH-371 and DPR-3.
As a result of this inspection, it appears that you had not established and maintained written material control and accounting procedures as re-quired by I 70.51(b)(1) of 10 CFR Part 70, "Special Nuclear Material."
This notice is sent to you pursuant to the provisions of Section 2.201 of the AEC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2,-Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations.
Section 2.201 requires you to submit to this office within twenty (20) days of your receipt of this notice a written statement or explanation in reply, including:
(1) corrective steps which have been taken by you and the resmits achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved.
Upon completion of our ISOCHECK calculations of the production and depletion of special nuclear materisi as reflected in your operations, we will contact you again.
