Wm. 3. McGuire Nuclear Station Docket Nos. 50-369 5 30-370

Dear Sir:

The McGuire Nuclear Station is a unique case.

Its " thin shell" contain-cent puts the people of Charlotte and the surrounding area in a position of greater risk than any other type of light water reactor design.

I am writing you to urge, therefore, that an Environmental Impact State-for class nine accidents be prepared prior to the opening of hearings on ment the eperating license for McGuire.

A lack of concern 6r the rigM s of the citizens of Charlotte would be demonstrated by the failure of the ASL3 ta require preparation of an EIS sup-plement for class nine accidents in this case.

I If McGuire should ever open, I think we would all be better off having known before hand all the implications of its operation on our area.

This, I hope, 1A ycur feeling as well.

S'incerely,

^^ 2 h a
