Beaver Valley Power Station - Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Technical Specification Change Request No. 60 Additiona1 Information
Dear Mr. Chaney:
Attached hereto is the supplemental test data related to the performance history of the Residual Heat Removal pumps at Beaver Valley Unit No. 1.
As you can see from this data, the RHR pumps have met, and continue to meet the discharge pressure versus flow acceptance criteria as set forth in the ASME Code,Section XI, Table IWP-3100-2. The proposed technical specification, as transmitted to you on March 13, 1981, adequately reflects the intent of the ASME Code with respect to RHR pump performance.
Should you have further comments or questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
Very truly yours, D. Sieber Superintendent Licensing and Compliance Attachment

On 3-06-81, BVPS-1 experienced c.n incident which involved air-binding of the RHR pumps.
- There is no instrumentation which will directly indicate recirculation flow rate.
Recirculation flow has been imputed based upon calculations.
- Pump D/P measured by installed discharge pressure gage less the loop pressure, corrected for elevation for tests conducted on 1-19-79 and 3-22-79.
For tests run on 3-08-81 and 3-13-81, a d/p cell installed to measure pump d/p was used and no elevation correction factor was applied.
