Page 1 of 1 Docket No. 50-339 Report No. LER 81-032/03L-0 Description of Event On April 18, 1981, the pressurizer pressure and pressurizer level indicators (PI-2444A and LI-2459C) disagreed with the corresponding control room instrument readings by more than the maximum acceptable variation. They were declared inoperable. This occurrence is contrary to the requirements of T.S. 3.3.3.5 and reportable pursuant to T.S. 6.9.1.9.b.

Probable Consequences of Occurrence The operability of the remote shetdown instrumentation ensures that in the event control room habitability is lost, sufficient capability is available to permit shutdown of the facility to hot standby conditions from locations outside of the main control room. The auxiliary shutdown panel indicators were restored to operable status within 7 days as required by T.S. 3.3.3.5, the public health and safety were not affected.

Cause of Event The disagreement between readings was caused by instrument drif t in both indicators on the auxiliary shutdown panel.

Immediate Corrective Action The installed indicators for pressurizer pressure (PI-2444A) and pressurizer level (LI-2459C) were replaced and the associated monitoring channels were recalibrated. The auxiliary shutdown panel instrumentation channel check was then reperformed with satisfactory test results.

Scheduled Corrective Action No scheduled corrective action is required.

Actions Taken to Prevent Recurrence No further actions are required.

Generic Implications There are no generic implications associated with this occurrence.
