APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Georgia Power Company Docket Nos. 50-321, 50-366 Hatch 1 and 2 License Nos. DPR-57, NPF-5 As a result of the inspection conducted on January 27-30, 1981, Georgia Power Company, and in accordance with the Interim Enforcement Policy, 45 FR 66754 (October 7,1980), the following violation was identified.
10 CFR 50, Criterion XII, as implemented by Paragraph D.9.12 of the Unit 1 FSAR and Paragraph 17.2.12 of the Unit 2 FSAR, requires, " Measures shall be established to assure that tools, gages, instruments and other measuring and testing devices used in activities affecting quality are properly controlled, calibrated, and adjusted at specified periods to maintain accuracy within necessary limits."
Contrary to the above, no measures have been established for control and calibration of the Karol-Warner Model 1000 RP proving ring used in perfor-mance of unconfined compression tests on the K-Krete backfill at the intake structure.
This is a Severity Level V Violation (Supplement I.E).
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Georgia Power Company is hereby required to submit to this office within twenty-five days of the date of this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply,: including: (1) admission or' denial of the alleged violation; (2) the reasons for the violation if admitted; (3) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (4) corrective'st'eps which will' be 'taken to avoid further' violations; and (5) the date when full compliance will be achieved. Under the authority of Section 182 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, this response shall be submitted under oath or affirmation.
