Description of Event

On November 27, 1980 while operating in Mode 1 at 28% power, the containment pressure channel III failed high.

I Probable Consequences of Occurrence Since the operator placed channel III in the trip mode with in one hour, and there were three more pressure channels available, the health I

and safety of the public were not affected.

Cause of Event

I The pressure channel failed high because of a defective card in the circuit.

Immediate Corrective Action

The immediate corrective action was to verify that containment pressure was normal and place-the channel in the trip mode.

Scheduled Corrective Action i

There are no scheduled corrective actions.

Actions Taken to Prevent Reccurrence The defective circuit card was replaced and the channel restored to an operable status.
