I am pleased to learn as a result of the recent telephone conversation between you and the Executive Secretary of the Panel that you are available and willing to serve as Chairman of the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board in the matter of Florida Power Corporation, Docket No. 50-302 This will confirm your designation as Chairman of this Board, the other members of which will be Dr. Eugene Greuling, Dr. Hugh Paxton, and Dr. Rolf Eliassen.
This Board is authorized to conduct a pre-hearing con-ference and a hearing in accordance with the applicable rules'and regulations promulgated by the, Commission and o
the Notice of Hearing which will later be given.
It now appears that it may be possible to hold the hearing in June or July.
The 5xecutive Secretary will consult with you and the
~
other _ members of the Board later concerning specific dates for the pre-hearing conference and the hearing which will to the extent practicable be fixed to meet the con-venience of the Board, the Regulatory Staff and the Appli-cant.
If the Board decides it is necessary or desirable to change the dates fixed in the Notice of Hearing, please consult with me or the Executive Secretary of the Panel before finally fixing the new date so that all relevant matters, including plans for other conferences and hearings, can be taken into account.
The Chairman of the Board is authorized to make the arrange-ments for such meetings of the members of the Board, prior to the pre-hearing conference and thereafter, as he and the 8003260 'Q 7
