i CONSUMERS PC'ER 00MPANY Docket 50-155 Request for Change to the Technical Specifications License DPR-6 For the reasons hereinafter set forth, it is requested that the Technical Specifi-cations contained in-the Facility Operating License DPR-6, Docket 50-155, issued to Consumers Power Company en May 1,1964, for the Big Rock Point Plant be changed as described in Section I telow:

Change (s) a Section ll.k.l.hA.

d Delete the following wording, " Verify that the hose required for backup cooling water to the core spray recirculation heat exchanger is install-ed on a designated rack in the screen house."

Section ll.h.l.hB.

Delete the fbiloving wording, " Verify that the hose used for backup cool-ing vater to the core spray recirculation heat exchanger is operable and free of obvious defects. Perform a leak check and flow check of the back-up cooling water hose when connected between the screen house fire water connection and the core sprey recirculation heat exchanger."

and replace with, " Verify remote manual cetuation of M0-7080, MO-7081, MO-7082, and M0-7083."

Discussion The above proposed Technical Specifications are requested to make the Techni-cal Specifications accurately reflect the "as-built" condition of the plant -

and its surveillance require =ents after the facility is modified during the.

1980 refueling outage. The purpose of the facility modification is to reduce

]

operator dose in the event of an accident which requires backup cooling water for core spray recirculation heat exchanger operation. The addition of per-manent piping and remote manually actuated valving vill eliminate the need for plant operators to install the current fire hose and make appropriate "tive lineups to provide backup cooling water.
