On September 13, 1980 while operating in mode 1, 2-PT-62.4 was performed on

the personnel air lock door seals. The leakage past the outer door seals was /

in excess of the acceptance criteria of the periodic test.

Since the inner

door was operable, and the containment was at a vacuum at the time the health /

r Virginia Electric and Power Company North Anna Power Station, Unit #2 Attachment: Page 1 of 1 Docket No. 50-339 Report No. LER 80-060/03L-0 De,scription of Event On September 13, 1980, with the unit in mcde I, the personnel air lock seal leakage test was performed and leakage was detected. This is contrary to T.S. 3.6.1.3 and reportable pursuant to T.S. 6.9.1.9.b.

Probable Consequences of Occurrence The consequences of this event were minimal in that the inner door of the personnel hatch was operable with the containment under vacuum.

Therefore any leakage through the seals would have been into the containment.

Consequently, the health and safety of the public were not affected.

Cause of Event

The outerdoor was slightly off center thus causing slight damage to the seals.

Immediate Corrective Action

An emergency maintenance report was issued, the door was centered and new seals were installed. Subsequent to maintenance, 2-PT-62.4 was successfully completed.

Scheduled Corrective Action Periodic test 2-PT-62.4 shall be performed after each opening, except when the air lock is being used for multiple entries, then at least once every 72 hours8.333333e-4 days
0.02 hours
1.190476e-4 weeks
2.7396e-5 months
.

Actions Taken to Prevent Recurrence No other action taken to prevent recurrence.

Generic Implications No generic implications.
