Page 1 of 1 Docket No. 50-339 Report No. LER 80-063/03L-0

Description of Event

During the performance of an incore - excore detector calibration startup test, a zero point shift of a DELTA T/T AVG channel III axial flux difference summing amp was discovered. A maximum channel III error of +16% (nonconservative) in the Overtemperature Delta T trip, turbine runback, and control rod withdrawal block setpoints could have resulted for a positive axial flux difference. A maximum channel III error of

- 38.7% (conservative) in the Overtemperature Delta T trip, turbine runback, and control rod withdrawal block setpoints could have resulted for a negative axial flux difference. This event is reportable pursuant to T.S. 6.9.1.9.b.

Probable Consequences of Occurrence DELTA T/T AVG channels I and II were operable. The action statement of the LCO was met.

The public health and safety were not affected.

Cause of Event

The cause of the zero shift in the summing amp was not determined.

Immediate Corrective Actions

The channel was placed in trip, a new summing amp installed and calibrated, and the channel returned to operable status.

Scheduled Corrective Action No scheduled corrective actions are required.

Actions Taken to Prevent Recurrence j

No actions to prevent recurrence are required.

Generic Implications This event had no generic implications.
