By request of the Nucicar Regulatory Commission Staff, we are hereby notifying you of our intention to remove the crosscennect line from the reactor building spray system. The line to be removed is a cross-connect between the suction hnes of the reactor building spray pumps in each train of the reactor building spray system as shown in FSAR Figure 6-3. The portion of the line between two isolation valves is ,

an area of stagnation and several leaks have developed in this line.

A full discussion of the leaks can be found in Abnormal Occurrence 5 Reports 50-313/74-11 and 50-313/74-11A. We have no plans to replace the line because it serves no safety related or praccical purpose.

In accordance with 10 CFR 50.59, the Plant Safety Conmittee and the .

Safety Review Committee have reviewed this design change and determined that no unreviewed safety question is involved and furthermore, that the design change is not safety related. .
