dated August 24, 1969 to staff questions concerning defueling.
The staff's preliminary review has resulted in requests f or additional informa-l tien on several defueling topics. These topics include:
Reactivity Evaluation.
l Reactivity Monitoring Accident Analysis, and Redundancy of Reactivity Control.
l In addition, the staff has determined that certain Technical Specifications i
(TS) must be changed to support the defueling as described in 3our SAR. These TS include Section 6.1, Reactor Core-Design features and the upgraded TS on 4
Reactivity Control.
Proposed TS changes were received by your letters dated September 14, 1989. Our preliminary Safety Evaluation and request for additional f
information is enclostd.
Please provide the information and TS change requested within 30 days of the date of this letter. As noted in the preliminary safety evaluation, defueling l
cannot proceed until the revised TS are reviewed and issued by the NRC, Since the defueling SAR provides the basis of your proposed TS changes, we must have l
this information in order to approve the TS.
l The information requested in this letter affects fewer than 10 respondents; i
therefore OFB clearance is not required under P.L. 96 511.
