Description of Event

On June 10, 1980, with the unit in a hot standby condition, the "A"

ECCS' subsystem was rendered inopetable due to isolation of the "A" Low Head Safety Injection pump for scheduled maintenance. This event is contrary to T.S. 3.5.2 and reportable pursuant to T.S. 6.9.1.9.b.

Probable Consequences of Occurrence The consequences of this event were minimal.because the redundant ECCS subsystem ("B" Train) remained available for operation if required and the "A" ECCS subsystem was restored to operable status within the 72 hour8.333333e-4 days
0.02 hours
1.190476e-4 weeks
2.7396e-5 months
ACTION statement. As a result, the health and safety of the general public were not affected.

Cause of Event

The "A" Low Head Safety Injection pump (2-SI-P-1A) was isolated to allow.a leaking seal water fitting to be repaired.

Immediate Corrective Action

The pipe nipples to the pump seal were removed and thoroughly cleaned and dressed. The seal water pipe fittings were then reconnected using new. flex gaskets where necessary and the pump was returned to an operable condition.

Scheduled Corrective Action No scheduled corrective action is required.

Actions Taken to Prevent Recurrence No further actions are required.

Generic Implications There are no generic implications associated with this event.
