Dear Mr. Knuth:
Pursuant to Federal Regulation 10 CFR 50.55(e), we wish to advise you of certain deficiencies in the design of equipment supplied by Babcock &
Wilcox Company to Florida Power Corporation for the Crystal River Unit #3 7
NSSS.
1.
A deficiency in the design of the Reactor Internals Handling Fixture.
2.
A deficiency in the design of the Control Rod Drive Control System AC Breaker Cabinets, regarding the method for attachment of the Cabinets to the floor.
In their opinion, they consider that these deficiencies are of sufficient magnitude to qualify as "Significant", in accordance with 10 CFR 50.55(e).
Florida Power Corporation will monitor B&W's corrective action as it pertains to Crystal River Unit #3.
We are enclosing B&W's reports of the two deficiencies.
