Page 1 of 1 Docket No. 50-339 Report No. LER 80-020/03L-0 Description of Event On May 29, 1980 during Mode 3 operation, the containment personnel access hatch doors'would not open, therefore PT 62.4 could not be per-formed. the inability to open the hatch door was due to the failure of a limit switch on the inner door.

Probable Consequences of Occurrence Since the unit was in Mode 3 cond. tion and the containment hatch doors remained closed, the health and safety of the public were not affected by this occurrence.

Cause of Event The event was caused by the failure of a limit switch on the hatch inner door preventing the electro-hydraulic system from moving the door to the open position.

Immediate Corrective Action The-failed limit switch was replaced.

Scheduled Corrective Action The periodic test (PT 62.4) was performed to demonstrate operability of the hatch doors.

Actions Taken to Prevent Recurrence No further action required.
