NARRATIVE

REPORT Reportable Occurrence Report No. 50-321/1980-032 i

V On April 2, 1980, during normal operation', P33-E601 A & B primary conta'in= cat H 0 analyzers indicated high 0 content, The "A" analyzer 2

2 was reading 4.1.g oxygen and the "B" analyzer readings were erroneous dua to moisture in the sensing lines. Tech. Spec limit for primary contain-ment ateosphere is less than 4% oxygen per T.S. 3.7.A,5,a, Normal reactor shutdown was begun at 1215 on 4-2-80 I h The cause of this event has been attributed ~ to air in-leakage acrosh the' d

seals of the drywell to torus differential pressure pumps T48-C001A & B, The pumps contain mechanical clipper seals which rbquire periodic greasing,

(}

The seals were greased to stop the air in-leakage.

Standing Order 80-16

\\

was issued to blowdown sensing lines on'both analyzer panels once par shift i

to reduce coisture in the sensing lines. The nitrogen inerting system was l

placed in service to reduce the oxygen content in the primary containment.

Normal reactor shutdown was stopped at 2400 on April 2, 1980. The reactor I'

was back at norral full power operation at 1430 on April 4, 1980. A pro-cedure was written to periodically grease the delta P pump seals, There were no effects to public health and safety due to this event, nor' was safe plant operation effected.

This is a non-repetitive event.
