Dear Ms. Schmitt,
By letter dated September 28, 2018 (attached) the Omaha Public Power District submitted a request to amend their U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) license for the Fort Calhoun Station (FCS). This amendment was requested to revise the requirements in the license and the permanently defueled technical specifications to reflect the permanent removal of all spent nuclear fuel from the FCS spent fuel pool and transfer it to dry storage casks at the onsite Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation. This transfer is scheduled to be complete by mid-2020. The NRC has completed its review of the proposed license amendment and intends to approve the request by the end of October 2019.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please contact me by October 22, 2019, or if you have no comments let me know that too.
Sincerely,
Jack D. Parrott Senior Project Manager US Nuclear Regulatory Commission 301-415-6634
