APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Florida Power Corporation License No. DPR-72 Based on the results of the NRC inspection conducted on January 3-6, 1978, it appears that certain of your activities were not conducted in full compliance with NRC regulations and License Condition as indicated below.
This item has been categorized as described in our correspondence to you dated December 31, 1974.
10 CFR 20.203(b) states that each radiation area shall be con-spicuously posted with a radiation caution symbol and the words Caution-Radiation Area. 10 CFR 20.202(b)(2) defines a radiation area to be any area accessible to personnel in which there exists radiation at such levels that a major portion of the body could receive in any one hour a dose in excess of 5 millirem.
Contrary to the above, on January 4,1978 a survey conducted by an NRC inspector and verified by a licensee representative, revealed radiation levels of 15 to 30 millirem per hour in the area of the concentrated waste and boric acid pumps.
This area was not posted as a radiation area.
