Alabama Power Company hereby files Amendnent 72 to the FSAR for J.

M. Farley Nuclear Plant-Unit No. 1 and to the Application for a license for the J. M. Farley Nuclear Plant-Unit No. 2. This Amendment consists of the revisions tabulated in Attachment 1 of this letter.

Revisions applicable to Farley-Unit No. 1 as necessary have been reviewed by the Plant Operations Review Committee and found not to con-stitute an unreviewed safety question.

In accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR Section 50.30(c)(1)(1) for Unit 2, we enclose three (3) signed copies and sixty (60) conformed copies of the Amendment. Also enclosed is a ' certificate of service of a copy of the Amendment upon the Chairman of the Houston County Commission.

AMENDMENT 72 Tabulation of Revisions FSAR Section Reason for Revision 1.1 Revised Unit 2 Completion of Construction and Com-mercial Operation dates.

1.2 Incorporated deletion of part length control rods.

4.1 This change was approved by the NRC on Farley Unit 4.2 1 by letter dated March 2, 1979 to Alabama Power 4.3 Company.

4.3 Updated information regarding fuel storage design.

This change was approved by the NRC on Farley Unit 1 by letter dated February 13, 1979 to Alabama Power Company.

5.2 Incorporated description of che reactor coolant system 5.5 low temperature overpressutization system. This de-sign was approved by the NRC by letter dated July 31, 1979 to Alabama Power Company.

6.2 Incorporated descriptien of the containment mini-purge system.

6.3 Incorporated additional information requested by the App. 6C NRC concerning the Unit 2 containment sump test pro-gram.

7.1 Incorporated safety injection actuation logic of two-7.2 out-of-three low pressurizer pressure channels. This 7.3 change was approved by the NRC on Farley Unit 1 by letter dated June 11, 1979 to Alabama Power Company.

7.2 Incorporated changes associated with reactor trip on turbine trip above 50% power. This change was approved by the NRC on Farley Unit 1 by letter dated March 2, 1979 to Alabama Power Company.

7.6 Incorporated changes associated with the reactor coolant system low temperature overpressurization protection system.

7.7 Incorporated changes associated with the deletion of the part length control rods and with reactor trip on turbine trip above 50% power.

8.3 Incorporated changes associated with the power supply to the turbine-driven auxiliary feedwater pump controls described in Alabama Power Company letter dated Dec ember 20, 1978 to the NRC.
