Aug 9 1979 MEMORANDUM FOR:

E. G. Case, Deputy Director, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation D. Eisenhut, Acting Director, Division of Operating FROM:

Reactors RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE ACTIVITIES RELATED TO

SUBJECT:

GENERIC TASK A-24 Memo Per your request, we have reviewed the subject document (reference:

to H. Denton from S. Hanauer dated July 6,1979).

As we have discussed, we understand that the change to Generic Task A-24 is essentially to postpone the review of the related topical reports consis-tent with the schedule for the " lead plants" reviews. We have no problem with this approach.

As further discussed with you, I believe that the development of D0R criteria for use in the review of the responses to Bulletin 79-01 should be compatible with DSS's interim position.

As we agreed, D0R will be working closely with DSS to ensure this consistency.
