On December 21, 1978, we received your letter dated December 20, 1978 tende"ing your application for an Early Site Review of certain site suitability issues for the Carroll County Station, Units 1 and 2.

The tendered application includes the following documents:

Site Suitability Environmental Report, and 2.

Site Suitability Site Safety Report Project No. 559 has been assigned to your application and any future correspondence prior to docketing should reference this number.

We began our acceptance review cn January 5, 1979 to determine the completeness of these documents and we expect to complete our review by February 5, 1979. Upon completion of our review, we will notify you by letter as to our conclusions.

A copy of your application has been placed in the fiRC Public Document Room in Washington, D. C., and in the Local Public Document Room at Savanna Township Public Library, 326 Third Street, Savanna, Illinois.

Other relevant documents, as they become available, will also be on file for public i';pection at those locations. This will include other documents you file with us.

By notice published in the Federal Reaister (43FR46293) on October 6, 1978 we amended our rules in 10 CFR Parts 2 and 51.

If we find your application acceptable for docketing, you must notify all executive officials of alternative sites as well as the official of the primary site that an application has been submitted and inquire whether they wish to receive copies of the application and amendments thereto.

An affidavit informing us that such notification has been completed must be submitted along with a list of names and addresses of those executivas upon which the 7801170363

notice was served. A copy of these new regulations is enclosed for your guidance. Also enclosed is the distribution which must be made for the application and Site Safety Report.
