Mr. Robert L. Baer, Chief Light Water Reactors, Project Branch No. 2 Re: McGuire Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-369, -370

Dear Mr. Denton:

Please find attached a copy of a revised table which summarizes the seismic qualification requirements of electrical equipment for McGuire Nuclear Station. Although only two pages of the table were revised, the entire table is included for completeness.

This table was originally submitted on May 2, 1977 in response to NRC staff concerns raised during the seismic qualification review team's visit to McGuire in January-February, 1977.

When this information was originally submitted, several tests were incomplete.

The attached table updates the original submittal to reflect the results of the testing.

Very truly yours, 2rk a PLp William O. Parker, Jr.

TABLE I McGUIRE NUCLEAR STATION - ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT QUAllFICATION Sheet 6 of 6 NOTE 1 - Natural frequencies determined by computer analysis; verified by prototype testing.

NOTE 2 - Natural frequencies determined by prototype tests.

NOTE 3 - A seismic qualification program was conducted to verify the structural integrity of Main Control Boards and define typical required response spectra (RRS) for Class E devices contained therein.

Finite element models comprised of beam and plate elements were developed to mathematically simulate the structure.

The results of in place field testing were used to verify the mathematical model.

The results of this seismic qualification program demonstrated that the main control l

boards have the structural integrity to survive the specified seismic excitations.
