Duke Power Company Gentlemen:
I am a resident of the High Rock Lake area and, of course, I am interested in my environment.
I cannot see any value to me and my family if a nuclear plant were in our area.
In fact, I see it as a detriment to us.
There are at least three reasons why I object to a nuclear plant in this area.
First, the reasons I bought a house in this area would no longer exist, i.e.
sports, fishing, boating, etc., due to the decreased water level in High Rock Lake and the possible contamination.
Second, the value of my property would decrease.
Third, there is still too much uncertainty about the effects this plant would have on the residents.
I have read articles about possible adverse effec ts and newspaper reports relating to afflictions suffered by residents of towns in which nuclear plants are built, including possible future mutations.
For example, a newspaper report stated that after a nuclear plant was built in a town in New Jersey, the incidence of cancer there rose jo4.
The percentage dropped gradually the further one got from the city.
If the building of the nuclear plant is approved. I see it as stripping away my inalienable rights of Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness, I strongly oppose the construction of a nuclear plant here!
Yours very truly,

6' Duke Power Company Gentlemen:
We are opposed to a nuclear plant in our area of High Rock Lake.
We retired and bought here on the water to enjoy fishing, boating, etc.
As we have read and understand, if a nuclear plant is built here, it would disrupt our way of life and endanger our health, therefore, we strongly oppose it.
Yours very truly, N
