As required by 10 CFR 50, Appendix B, Criterion V and implemented by DPC Topical Report, paragraph 17.1.5 activities affecting quality shall be prescribed by documunted instructions, procedures, or drawings...and shall be accomplished in accordance with these instructions, procedures, or drawings.

This is an Infraction.

Response

Sketches of the subject electrical bracing installed on safety-related motors have been made. These sketches will be reviewed and approved in accordance with existing procedures to assure the adequacy of this bracing. This review will be complete by November 15, 1979, and at that time an Installation Specification will be written detailing both the approved method of installation and any necessary modifications to the bracing.

Construction work on the bracing will be completed and inspected by January 15, 1980.

Electrical design personnel currently receive annual training in the quality assurance procedures for nuclear safety-related work.

This training will now be conducted quarterly.

In addition,by November 1, 1979, all electrical design personnel will have received special instruction in the procedures to be followed whenever they are involved in safety-related work in the field.

In order to provide still further assurance against the recurrence of a similar violation, special procedural meetings will be held whenever an unusual quality assurance situation arises which should be brought to the attention of all electrical design personnel.
