Gentlemen:

This refers to the safeguards material accountability inspection

conducted at the Arkensas Nuclear One - Unit 2 on May S-11, 1979,

by Messrs. A. G. Fin'ey and J. P. Patterson of this office. Our

inspection findings were discussed with Mr. G. H. Miller, Engineering

and Technical Support Manager and other members of Arkansas Po"er

and Light Company at the conclusion of the inspection on May 10,

1979. On May 11, 1979, the inspectors met with the Nuclear

Materials Manager, at the Little Rock Corporate Office to discuss

minor problems involving correct preparation of Forms NRC-742

and Arkansas Nuclear One-Unit One burnup and production results

for the period April 1, 1977 - September 30, 1977. Your activities

pursuant to Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 70,

"Special Nuclear Material" as they pertain to License No. NPF-6

were the subject of the inspection.

Errors noted by the inspection team in Material Status Reports

(Form NRC-742) tere determined to be a lack of understanding, with

no affect on reported values, rather than a failure to co= ply.

The licensee has agreed to prepare revised Forms NRC-742 for both

Units 1 and 2 for the report period ending March 31, 1979.

The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas

examined during the inspection. Within these areas, the

inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures

and representative records, observations, and interviews with

personnel.
