(2) Letter to Mr. J. R. May, Newport News Industrial Corporation, from Karl Kniel, NRC, dated October 3, 1977.

(3) Letter to Mr. J. R. May, Newport News Industrial Corporation, from Karl Kniel, NRC, dated April 7,1978.

(4) Letter to Mr. J. R. May, Newport News Industrial Corporation, from Karl Kniel, NRC dated April 12, 1978.

(5) Letter to Mr. J. R. May, Newport News Industrial Corporation, from Robert Baer, NRC, dated October 3, 1978.

Items (2) through (5) are the NRC staff's requests for additional information on the subject topical report. NRC has received responses to items (2) through (4), but these have been designated proprietary by Newport News Industrial Corporation.

Therefore, the staff cannot release or oermit inspection of such information unless the recipent executes an appropriate agreement.

However, we have very recently requested that Newpcrt News Industrial Corporation provide more specific information to identify which portions of the responses that they consider proprietary, and the detailed reasons why that irformation is so classified.

If, as a result, of the staff review of their response, any or all of the information is not deemed to be proprietary, we will forward copies of that information to you.
