Brunner, Chief Reactor Operations and Nuclear Support Branch United States Nuclear Regulatory Conunission Region 1 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, Pennsylvania 19406

Dear Mr. Brunner:

Subject:

Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Dar.ket No. 50-219 IE Inspection Report No. 50-219/78-28 This is in reply to your letter dated November 17, 1978 to Mr. I va.1 R.

Finfrock, Jr. regarding the inspection conducted by Mr. L. Briggs at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station.

In Appendix A to your letter, there is noted one activity that was not conducted in full compliance with the conditions of the Oyster Creek NRC Facility License. The specific Infraction Identified and our response to it are given below:

Infraction - Paper, tape and other debris were found floating in a stagnant area of the dryer / separator pool.

In addition, there was no documentation to provide support that the general area or pool area had been inspected.

Response - 1.

The irrrnediate corrective action was to remove the floating debris from the dryer / separator pool and clean the refueling floor. A re-inspection of the area per Procedure No. 119 on October 18,1978, found the housekeeping acceptable.

Operations Department personnel have been Informed of the 2.

noncompliance and have been reminded of the need to maintain good house-keeping in the plant. To preclude exceeding the inspection periodicity, housekeeping inspection forms will be included in the Operations Department surveillance packages.

3 Full compliance was achieved on October 18, 1978.

Very truly yours,
