The ;otential for conditicns concucive to steam generator water hammer are therefore avoided in these piping sections.

Tests were Conducted on September 23, 1975 at the IPS to determine the effect of auxiliary feedwater ficw rates on the inducement of steam generat0r water h=mmer.

The eight tests simulated varicus normal and hycothetical 0;e-ating conditions.

Auxiliary feecwa er was atmi ted into a steam generatcr at ficw rates ranging from 120 gpm to 110 gpm.

1) a water hammer c:uld increase the consequences of a LOCA and 2) the
