Cear Mr. Tiller:

The attacn en c'm0letes the assess ent Of the E'fectivenes3 cf the existing means :: reduce the ;ctential for steam genera Or water hammer at the Tr jan Pcwer Statien.

The assessment has shown that under c nditions which are mest conducive to water hammer in the feedwater system (specifically, uncovered and draining feedrings and feecwater piping subjectec to acrissicn of cold auxiliary feedwa er), the means to reduce the pctential for water hamrer at this #acility are adecuate to maintain sufficiently full feecrings and feedwater ;1 ping until feedring recovery eccurs. Therefore, since keepi'.1g the feedrings and feedwater piping full of water is the criterien for this evaluatien, we find that the means to reduce the ;ctential for steam generator water hammer at this facility are adequate.

This transmittal constitutes partial fulfillment (cne of the four clants to be reviewed) of Nede 1A3 of tne A6257 PE?.T Chart da:ed July 11, 1979.

Very truly yours, s
