Gentlemen:

This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. R. A. Caldwell of the Region IV

Office on November 1-2, 1979, of activities authorized by NRC License No. R-83

for the Nuclear Science Center and to his discussion of the findings with

mcabers of your sisff at the conclusion of this inspection.

The areas examined during this inspection was your r.rogram for protecting

againut industrial sabotage and safeguarding special nuclear material

pursuant to rpplicable provisions of 10 CFR 53, " Licensing of Production

and Utilization Facilities"; Part 73, " Physical Protection of Plants and

Materials"; and specific requirements of NRC License No. R-83.

Within this

area, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures

and records, interviews with personnel, observations by the inspector

and review of the Physical Securi y Plan for the Nuclear Science Center.

Within the scope of this inspection, no items of noncompliance with NRC

requirements were identified.

?a accordance with Section 2.790(d) of the NRC's " Rules of Practice,"

Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, documentation of findings

of your control and accounting procedures for safeguarding special ruclear

materials and your facility security procedures are exempt from disclosure;

therefore, the inspection report will not be placed in the Public Document

Room and will receive limited distribution,
