APPENDIX B NOTICE OF DEVIATION Georgia Power Company License Nos. CPPR-108 Vogtle, Units 1 and 2 CPPR-109 Based on the results of the NRC inspection conducted on April 25-27, 1979, certain of you: activities appear to deviate from your commitments to the Commission as indicated below:
Paragraph 3.8.1.6.1 of the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report states in part, "The compressive strength of concrete at 28 days used for the con-tainment is as follows:
A.
Base mat and gallery - 5,000 psi B.
Cylinder and dome - 6,000 psi" Contrary to the above, pour 1-01D-008B on Unit I tendon gallery wall used a concrete mix designed to obtain a compressive strength of 5000 psi at 91 days. Specification X2AP01, Division C3, Section 3.6 specifies a 91 day design compressive strength for all Category I 5,000 and 6,000 psi concrete. Records of 28-day cylinder breaks indicate that the 5,000 psi, 91-day concrete mix frequently breaks at values less than 5,000 psi at 28 days.
This is a deviation.
