ACCEPTANCE FOR REVIEW OF WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC COMPANY WCAP-16045-P-A, ADDENDUM 2, REVISION 0, AND WCAP-16045-NP-A, ADDENDUM 2, REVISION 0, "UPDATED NEXUS CROSS-SECTION METHODOLOGY" (EPID: L-2019-TOP-0026)
Dear Ms. Zozula:
By letter dated June 26, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML19179A091), Westinghouse Electric Company (Westinghouse) submitted to U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) WCAP-16045-P-A, Addendum 2, Revision 0, and WCAP-16045-NP-A, Addendum 2, Revision 0, "Updated NEXUS Cross-Section Methodology," for review and approval.
The NRC performed an acceptance review and found that the material presented is sufficient to begin our review. We expect to issue our initial request for additional information by January 10, 2020 and issue a draft safety evaluation by June 1, 2020. This schedule information takes in consideration the NRCs current review priorities and available technical resources and may be subject to change. If modifications to these dates are deemed necessary, we will provide appropriate updates to this information.
The NRC staff estimates that the review will require approximately 870 staff hours including project management time. The review schedule milestones and estimated review costs were discussed and agreed upon via emails between Korey Hosack, Westinghouse, and the NRC staff on August 6, 2019, and between Brad Maurer, Westinghouse, and the NRC staff on August 19, 2019.
Section 170.21 of Title 10 of the CFR requires that TRs are subject to fees based on the full cost of the review. You did not request a fee waiver; therefore, NRC staff hours will be billed accordingly.
