.. f:J I I Serial J:il"o. 385/082677 PO&M/WWC:das Docket Nos. 50-280 50-281 License Nos. DPR-32 DPR-37 The draft copy of the NRC's radioactive effluent report for the Surry Power Station during 1976 has been reviewed and my comments are as follows:
A. Suiiimary of Effluents - Airborne
- 1. "Total Halogens (including I-131)" should be 5.44E-01 curies since I-134 was not included.
If the 5.29E-01 curies number is used, it is suggested that "Airborne C)" be changed to read "Total Halogens
( excluding I-134)".
- 2. "Total Particulates" is reported as. 8. 14K-02 curies and is correct but does not include Rb-88 or Cs-138 due to their short half-lives.
It is suggested that "Airborne. D)" be changed to read "Total Parti-culates (excluding Rb-88 and Cs-138)".
- 3. The "Total Tritium" is not.3.03E+02 curies but 3.72E+2 curies.
The discrepancy results from an apparent calculational error (misread-ing exponential sign) *
. B. Airborne Effluents - Isotopic Breakdown
.. 1. Remove I-134 from the "Particulates" column and include under the "Halogens" column.
- 2. Change H-3 from 3. 03E+02 to 3. 72E+02 to reflect A-3 above.
Also please note that the C-14 number as.reported for liquid effluents re-sults from a quarterly composit14sample analysis for 14co2 by a vendor.
The quarterly composite result for COz is then prorated on a monthly basis and report-ed as C-14..
