Dear Mr. Miner:
By letter dated July 3, 2018 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML18186A635), Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. submitted an exemption request for Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station (Pilgrim). The requested exemptions would allow Pilgrim to reduce emergency planning requirements consistent with the anticipated permanently defueled condition of the station. By e-mail dated July 25, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18206A788), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff accepted this exemption request to review. The acceptance review was performed to determine if there is sufficient technical information in scope and depth to allow the NRC staff to complete its detailed technical review.
Based on the information provided in your submittal, the NRC staff estimated that this licensing request would take approximately 368 hours0.00426 days <br />0.102 hours <br />6.084656e-4 weeks <br />1.40024e-4 months <br /> to complete, and the NRC staff expected to complete this review in approximately 11 months, which was June 2019.
Based on the second round request for additional information regarding the adiabatic heat-up calculation, the NRC staff estimates that this licensing action will take approximately 450 hours0.00521 days <br />0.125 hours <br />7.440476e-4 weeks <br />1.71225e-4 months <br />, and the NRC staff expects to complete this review in September 2019.
