SUMMARY
OF AUGUST 16, 2018, PHASE ZERO PUBLIC MEETING WITH IDAHO STATE UNIVERSITY REGARDING ITS REACTOR CONTROL PANEL UPGRADE On August 16, 2018, a Category 1 public meeting/teleconference, via GoToMeeting, was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of the Idaho State University Research Reactor (ISU). The purpose of this meeting was to discuss ISUs upcoming reactor control panel modification and related changes of the reactor to allow solid-state modern components to replace original tubes and components in the control panel.
The meeting notice and agenda, are available in Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems (ADAMS) Accession No. ML18212A106. A list of attendees is provided as an enclosure and a PowerPoint presentation for the meeting is also available in ADAMS at Accession No. ML18228A790. The discussion centered on the concerns of how the modification would change and/or impact the current reactor quality assurance plan, startup tests, bench testing, scram drop time, and power supply change.
