T.h~ enclosed report documents an inspection of activities affecting public health and safety,
- conducted by Mr; T. Johnson, Senior Resident Inspector and .other.members of the.NRC
resident and regional staff at the Salem and Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations for the
period between March 14 and April 17, 1993. The inspectors previously discussed the
findings of this.* inspection with Messrs. C. Vondra and R. Hovey of your staff ..

Based on the results of this inspection, it appears that some of your activities were not
conducted iI1 .full compliance with NRC requirements, as set forth in the enclosed Notice of
- . Violation. These* activities involved failure to properly implement the* requirements of 10 *
CFR 59 relative to certain changes in.your facility.* While none of the individual findings
. involved a_safety significant issue, these diserepancies indicate a minor but eontinuing
weakness in your program that could lead to possible mis-evallla.tion of a safety significarit
changes. You are required to respond to this letter and should.follow the instructions* ..
specified iri the enclosed Notice when preparing your response. In accordance. with 10 CFR
