This refers to the initial inspection of your fitneSS""'.for-duty program

implemented at Artificial Island. The inspection ~as cond~cted March 12-15,

1990, by. R. Albert and A: Della Ratta of this office; L. Bush of

Headquarters; and G. Pirtle of Region III.

Areas examined during the inspection are described in the NRC Region I*

inspection r~port which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the.

inspection consisted of selective e~aminations of proced~res and

representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the

inspectors.

  • Within the scope of this insp~cti6n, one non-cited violation was ob~erved.

This violation .was not cited because corrective actions were being taken, and

i~.was minor in nature.

In addition, three tinresolved items vere identified.

We understand that.yo~ are c6ntemplating changing your proce~s for ~andomly

testing those persons who have infrequent access. Should you make a change to

the process that was in effect during the inspection, please notify us of that

change.

In accordance with lOCFR 2.79d(a), a copy of this letter;and the enclosure

will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
