This letter transmits the findings of the routine, resident safety inspection
conducted by Mr. Thomas P. Johnson and others from February 13, 1990 to March
16, 1990> at the Salem and Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Stations.
The
fi~dings were discussed with Mr. L. K. Miller and Mr. J. J. Hagan of your
staff .
Based on th~ results of this inspection, it appears that certain of your Salem
Station activities were not conducted in full compliance with NRC
requirements, as set forth in the Notice of Violation, enclosed herewith as
Appendix A.
You are required to respond to this letter and in preparing your
response, you should follow the instructions in Appendix A.
The response directed by this letter and the accompanying Notice are not
subjec~ to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as
required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980 PL-511.
