Combined Inspection Report Nos. 50-272/89-07 and 50-311/89-06
This letter refers to the routine safety inspection of your response to items
described in Generic Letter 88-17, "Loss of Decay Heat Removal. 11
The inspec-
tion was conducted by Mr. J. M. Trapp and Ms. A. E. Lopez of this office on
April 17-21, 1989, at the Salem Units 1 and 2, Lower Alloways Township,
A discussion of our findings was: held by Mr. Trapp with Mr. Miller
at the conclusion of this inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I Inspection
Report which is enclosed with this letter. Wiithin these areas, the inspection
consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records,
interviews with plant staff, and observations by the inspectors.
The inspectors found that all "expeditious actions" described in Generic
Letter 88-17, and in your response to Generic Letter 88-17 (dtd. January 6, 1989),
had been implemented at the Salem Nuclear Generating Station prior to mid-loop
operation.
Within the scope of this inspection no violations or unresolved items were
observed.
No reply to this inspection is required.
