APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Public Service Electric and Gas Company Salem Nuclear Generating Station Units 1 and 2 Docket No.
50-272 50-311 License No. DPR-70 DPR-75 As a result of the inspection conducted on March 21, 1989 - April 30, 1989, and in accordance with 11General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions 11, 10 CFR 2, Appendix C (Enforcement Policy 1989), the following violation was identified:
A.
rechnical Specification 6.5.2.2 requires, in part, that the composition of the Nuclear Safety Review Department include the Manager - Onsite Safety Review Group, who is supported by at least four dedicated, full-time engineers.
Contrary to the above, as of April 30, 1989, the composition of the Onsite Safety Review Group consists of an Onsite Safety Review Engineer who is supported by three other full-time engineers.
I This is a Severity Level V violation (Supplement I).
B.
Purs0ant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Public Service El~ctric and Gas Company is hereby required to submit to this office within 30 days of the date of the letter which transmitted this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply, including:
(1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved.
Where good cause is shown, consideration will be given to extending this response time.
