ROUTINE NOVEMBER 24 - DECEMBER 31 , 1981 RESIDENT SAFETY INSPECTION
This refers to the inspection activities under NRC Licenses DPR-70 and DPR-75 by
Messrs. L. Norrholm and W. Hill of this office at the Salem Nuclear Generating
Station, Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey. That inspection consisted of selective exam-
inations of procedures and records, interviews, measurements, and observation of
activities. Findings were discussed by Mr. Norrholm with Mr. H. Midura of your
staff at the end of the inspection.
As set forth in Appendix A, it appears that your activities did not comply fully
with NRC requirements. The Violations have been categorized into the levels de-
scribed in Federal Register Notice 45 FR 66754 dated October 7, 1980. A reply is
required. That reply is not subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of
Management and Budget under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
In
preparing your reply, you should follow the instructions in Appendix A.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), this letter and enclosures will be made public
unless you notify this office by telephone within 10 days of the date of this let-
ter and submit written application to withhold information contained therein within
30 days of the date of this-letter. Such application must be consistent with 10
CFR 2. 790(b)(l).
