Dear Mr. Kingsley:
The NRG staff has reviewed and evaluated the information provided by the Commonwealth Edison Company in its letter dated. November 22, 1996, and in its request for additional information response dated April 14, 1997, for Unit 1 and letter dated September 18, 1997, for Unit 2. Supplemental information dated August 21, 1998, was also provided for Units 1 and 2 and reviewed by the staff. These letters were submitted regarding the alternative to 10 CFR 50.55a(g)(6)(ii)(A), augmented reactor pressure vessel examination, for Quad Cities Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2..The staff authorizes the licensee's proposed alternative to augmented examination of reactor pressure vessel pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(a)(3)(i).
, The staff's evaluation and conclusions are contained in the enclosed safety evaluation (SE).
This task completes TAC Nos. M97370 and M99659.
