NOTICE OF VIOLATION Consumers Power Company Palisades Nuclear Generating Plant Docket No. 50-255 License No. DPR-20 As a result of the inspection conducted on August 13 through September 19, 1990, and in accordance with the 11General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions, 11 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C (1990) (Enforcement Policy) the following violation was identified:
Technical Specification 6.12.1 requires that each high radiation area in which the intensity of radiation is greater than 100 mrem/hour but less than 1000 mrem/hour sha 11 be barricaded and conspicuously posted as a high radiation area.
Contrary to the above, on September 11, 1990, a high radiation area in the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) sampling room was found not conspicuously posted and barricaded as required.
Dose rates in this area were in excess of 100 mrem/hour.
This is a Severity Level IV violation (Supplement IV).
The inspection showed that steps had been taken to correct the identified violations and to prevent recurrence.
Consequently, no reply to the violations is required and we have no further questions regarding this matter.
