...._ 4.1 . .In_addition to routine dosimetry provisions, personnel involved in.sampling and analysis shall obtain extremity dosimetry for the* hands and a high-range pocket dosimeter.

4.. 2 . Personnel performing sampling and analysis shall be equipped with a high-

  • range porta"ole survey instrument (Eberline Te1etector or equivalent) to monitor radiation levels in areas where they are working.

4.3 Assess radiological conditions (radiation levels, air sampling as. appropriate) in the vicinity of sampling and analysis activities. Each individual's radiation dose shall h.e__limited to 3 r.em per q1Jarter.

4.7 Handle samples at arms length as much as possible *. Remote handling tools are available in. the Hot Chemistry Laboratory or the Back-up Chemistry Laboratory in the Feedwater Purity Buildir,g and should be used when practical.

4.8 When not b~ing handled, place samples in shielded holder oR .. pla."ce behind a lead brick barrier. Monitor lab. to determine general area exceed13 15 mr/hour. If this is the case, additional shielding for samples should be considered.

5.0 PROCEDURE 5.1 Sampling 5.1.1 Prior to entering sampling room, select sampling location within the containment using HS-2404, located near the Laundry Room.

5.1.9 Determine sampling purge time from Figure 4. Establish flow and exit room until purge is com~leted.

5.1.10 Turn off pump if running. Close valve #8. Close valve #9.

5.1.11 Using a syringe, collect a 5 cc sample for gas partitioner analysis and a 0.01 cc sample for MCA analysis.

5.1.12 To depressurize the system open valves numbered 8 an.d 9. Close valves numbered 2 and 3. Open valves numbered 5, 6 and 7.

5 .1.13 Close valves numbered 5, 6, 7, Sand 9 in sequence.

5 .1.14 Place samples in shielded holders and transport to the. laboratory .
