10 CFR 50.73 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) - UNIT 3 DOCKET NO. 296 FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE DPR-68 LICENSEE EVENT REPORT (LER) 50-296/96004, REVISION 2 This revision to LER 50-296/96004 provides the root causes for four failures of the Emergency Core Cooling System inverters.

Two root causes were identified:

(1) shorted silicone controlled rectifiers and (2) a shorted commutation capacitor.

These root causes also apply to two similar LERs (50-296/96006 and 96008) that occurred after LER 50-296/96004 was initially reported.

Additional event details for the second, third and fourth events were also included.

Revision bars identify where changes have been made.

The initial report.was submitted in accordance with 10 CFR 50.73 (a)(2)(i)(B) and 10 CFR 50.73 (a)(2)(vii).
