TRANSMITTAL OF SAFETY EVALUATION CONCERNING THE INTERIM ACCEPTANCE EVALUATION OF SEISMIC QUALIFICATION OF CABLE TRAY/

SUPPORTS Enclosed is a Safety Evaluation on the interim acceptance evaluation of the seismic qualification of cable tray/supports for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Unit 2.

The staff has found the interim acceptance evaluation of the Unit 2 cable tray/supports proposed by the Tennessee Val.ley Authority (the licensee) in its May 2, 1986 submittal to be, acceptable for interim opqration.

Prior to

restart, the licensee should provide confirmation of the completion of the 14 modifications on the cable tray/supports and verify that it they meet the interim acceptance criteria after the modifications.

You should also assure that any safety-related employee concerns presently under review by the Employee Concerns Task Group pertaining to this issue are appropriately addressed prior to start-up of Unit 2.

The long term evaluation of the Browns Ferry cable tray/supports seismic qualification will be covered under the staff's Seismic gualification of Equipment Program (USI A-46).
