Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Units 1, 2 and 3

By letter dated July 2, 1984, as supplemented May 13,

1986, TVA responded to Generic Letter 84-09 dated May 8, 1984.

The Generic, Letter provided certain technical criteria by which a Mark I BWR plant co'uld be found not to rely on purge/repressurization systems as the primary measures of hydrogen control.

We have completed our review, copy enclosed, of the TVA submittals, and conclude that TVA will have demonstrated compliance with the guidance to remove al1 potential oxygen sources,

when, aS discussed with your staff, appropriate Technical Specifications, as described in the enclosed Request for Additional Information are proposed.

Please respond to the enclosed request for additional information within 60 days of the date of this request, or provide a schedule for your response.

6 The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.
