Gray File By letter dated January 16, 1984.

we provided you our Safety Evaluation on the above subject.

We concluded that with the exception of four walls whfch were identified fn the Safety Evaluation, the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Units 1, 2 and 3, met the intent of Items 2(b) and 3 of IE Bulletin 80-11.

Our letter requested that you reevaluate ithe design and use of the four walls fn question.

Your letter of June 5, 1984 provided the results of your reanalysis of the four walls.

You stated that no safety - related items are located within the fall zone of these walls and that administrative action (as described in your letter) has been taken "to'nsure that no safety - related items will be located within the fall zones."

Your letter acceptably resolves our concerns regarding the four walls identified fn the above cited Safety Evaluation.

We thus conclude that the generic issue on Masonry Wall Design has been satisfactorily resolved for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.

In your submfttals on this subject, you committed to complete certain modifications of masonry walls at the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.

Your implementation schedule will be the subject of separate correspondence.

Sincerely, Original signed by/
