Docket No.:

('ower Supply and Eiigineering and Construction

...,,'Cat,'olina Power I Light Company Post Office" Box 1551 Raleigh--North Carolina

27602,

Dear Mr. Utley:

SUBJECT:

DELETION OF HOME TELEPHONE NUMBERS, UNLISTED UTILITY NUMBERS, ETC.

FROM EMERGENCY PLANS -

SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT By Generic Letter No. 81-27 dated July 9, 1981 we advised licensees and applicants that:

When emergency plans and implementing procedures, or changes

thereto, are submitted in the future, please mark all pages which have privacy or proprietary material, bracket the specific information involved, and identify these pages in the transmittal letter.

The reason f'r this, as we noted in Generic Letter No. 81-27, was because a problem had arisen where internal unlisted utility telephone numbers in the documents have been revealed to the public.

We further noted that in the event of an emergency, telephone lines to those numbers could be loaded with non-essential calls which could interface with officials dealing with the emergency, and could, therefore, be detrimental to the overall public health and safety.

This letter is to make you aware that it has been our experience during the past two years in which emergency plans and supplements have been submitted that seldom do licensees and applicants request deletion of information in the emergency plans or their supplements.

This is to again advise you that unless you specifically request that information be deleted, as required by the 8402290357 8402i4 PDR ADOCK 05000400 F
